Winter Cleaning

Here's a great trick you should try at home. For a minimum of a week (your
results are much more accurate if you do this for two weeks!), stop putting
your clothes away. After you wear them, just refrain from placing them
back in your closet or drawers. I favored letting them pool in color
coordinated piles in my bedroom, but, it's up to you what you want to do
with them while they are not in their usual place. Please note that you
are free to launder and "re-wear" any item of clothing you wish. Just
don't put anything away.

At the end of the experimental period , look at your piles. Then look in
your closet. Chances are if you are like me, all of your favorite clothes
will be in the piles. Everything left in your closet, baring excluded
items that can only be worn during a particular season or on special
occasions, will be clothes that you hate. Believe me, if they don't fit
into the excluded group and you didn't wear them for two weeks, chances are you AREN'T GOING TO WEAR THEM!

The winter solstice has passed, Christmas is nearing and new year's day
draws nigh...it's time for a fresh start. Get rid of the old unwanted
stuff clogging your closet...it's a sure bet someone else will make great
use of them; do your part to pass them on to the universe. After the
initial pangs of regret, you'll be glad you did!

42 and buying blue

Today, I'm 42 and 1/2 exactly. Wow. That was fast. They say that life
moves faster as you get older and 42 is the year that I've drifted into
that 'older' catagory.

Besides the obvious negative traits associated with old, there are also
some good things that accompany my maturity. Like the wherewithall to use my more mature buying power to make a difference, however small.

Take a peek at Mark Morford's article from Sfgate. Besides being wickedly funny, he makes a strong case for retail politics. I'm just sorry I didn't know about the buying blue website" until now. But rest assured, the statistics he states are enough to break my regrettable Amazon habit (and replace it with Booksense.com and Barnesandnoble.com!)
